[yourNEWS.com] Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has accused Western celebrities of accepting millions in payments to publicly back Ukraine amid its ongoing conflict with Russia, stating that their visits to Kiev were not acts of goodwill but rather financially motivated publicity stunts.
In an interview with Hungarian broadcaster TV2 on Saturday, Orban alleged that USAID, the U.S. government’s primary agency for foreign assistance, financed these high-profile trips to Ukraine as part of a broader political campaign. “People were given money for their opinions. I am talking about big celebrities and movie stars. They were given money to go to Ukraine, so they did not do it from the heart or out of sympathy for the Ukrainians – which could have actually been the case – but because they were given money,” Orban stated.
According to the Hungarian leader, the payments to these celebrities ranged in the “millions of euros or dollars,” though he did not provide specific names or documentary evidence to support his claims.
Over the past three years, several high-profile Hollywood figures have traveled to Ukraine, including Angelina Jolie, Sean Penn, Ben Stiller, and Orlando Bloom. Social media reports that surfaced in early February suggested that Jolie was paid $20 million for her April 2022 visit to Lviv, while Penn, Stiller, and Bloom allegedly received payments of $5 million, $4 million, and $8 million, respectively, from USAID…
